Her husband is a retired Army man, who spent 21 years in the service of his country. He served in Korea and Vietnam. He is also a recipient of the Purple Heart. He also was an over-the-road truck driver for 22 years. He hates to read and although he supports her 100% he has never read her book. He is excited for her, and tells everyone he sees about her great accomplishments, but still will not read anything she writes.

Donna Thompson has used her Grandchildren's names in many of her novels. Donna was married to another Thompson, who passed away at the age of 38. He was no relation to the Thompson she is married to today. Mrs. Thompson always jokes that she was too lazy to change her name. Another interesting fact is that her husband and his brother both married a Donna. This causes a little confusion in the family sometimes.
